The First Theologian

A theory is by definition, a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world. It's a tentative insight; a concept that is not yet verified, but that if true would explain certain facts or phenomena.

A theory can be about anything, and anyone can have a theory. The beauty of theory which lies in its definition is that it doesn't necessessarily need to be accurate.

I find theories to be refreshing. With so many things in this world that are so definite, I think we all need something we can not just believe in, but contemplate, and argue. You can't argue with facts, but even the most concrete of theories have cracks in the sidewalk for some argument, and who doesn't find arguement refreshing?

Whoever came up with the theory of theory gets a high five from me. Maybe he was shy and had trouble making people believe in what he was telling them, so he convinced these less educated, closed-minded individuals that maybe he was wrong, so instead of being ridiculed by the masses, accepted doubt.

Maybe he was a dreamer. A dreamer who made brilliant discoveries that explained everything he ever needed to know through some kind of experimentation or experience. Realizing that his explanations could be refuted and his satisfaction crushed, he decided to announce that there was a possibility that he may not be right, but since whatever he had proved was at least partially true, he would rahter be potentially wrong and living in acceptance of his dreams than be pronounced a liar, and in possession of false truth.

Maybe instead he was just another procrastinator. Too lazy to go all the way and prove his point undoubtedly, so he created theories that did the explaining just enough to satisfy, without the rest of the experimentation.

But hey, it's just a theory.
